Hi cookinbubbles, Just want to let you know that I am 52 and new to online dating, never married. So there are some older of us out here. I found a real nice woman on another site and hit it off just thru email and chat, only met her once. But she was unable to move on after being hurt too much and I don't know if she will ever come around. BTW I like your essay, but you're too far away.

`yeah, thats the story of MY life....LOL
And there are not many available men, it seems, in my state that appreciate a big gal so I guess I will have to be satisfied with looking and chatting on here and be content.
I sort of am anyway. Content that is. I figure if I meet someone, wonderful, if not, thats okay too. I am lonely sometimes but I don't let it get me down.

`Curious with all the "Passion networks" is there one for mature adults who might just want to meet people of their own age group. or is that too much wishful thinking?

`there is. Its called Senior passions and that site is totally dead....no pun intended.
I try to check in now and then and occasionally I get a note from someone from there.
I try to make it a habit to check into the forum area, the thinking being if others actually see someone on there, more would follow but now, most of the posts are mine and I am stuck with looking at my own face on just about all of the different forum topics...dammit. My plan has failed...LOL

`Seems this is the only active site I'm a member of, the rest are equally as dead as you say senior passion is. Guess this is the only way to communicate with the living....lol But hey, I thank you cookinbubbles, at least someone cared enough to answer on here... thanks.

`I'm definitly very young for this site from what I've seen so far (19) but I don't care how old or young someone is on here because the whole reason I even found and joined this site is for something completely different from what most people want and slightly humorous if you care to read on;
I only wanted to join here because I wanted to visit a place where bigger people like me are accepted and are positive about their weight. One of the main reasons being that I'm currently working on losing weight, but because it's slowly coming off, I still didn't feel attractive. Originally I searched for "social networking site for overweight people", hoping to find an online community filled with positive, thick people like myself : )
I don't have any intentions of finding a date, just wanting to surround myself with a few positive people who understand. And it's helped me in my weightloss by making me feel good about myself in the process. No more shying away from going out because I feel ugly. I see all these beautiful people and all these people who love them and my hapiness sky rocketed.
So finding friends is all I want. And I don't discriminate due to age either : ) (Not accusing anyone of doing so, simply just saying)

`Well, the previous post wasn't so humorous haha. I only wrote that it was humorous because I was going to bore everybody with the story that led up to me searching the site, which is a tad funny, but I erased that and forgot to erase the part where I told you it would be slightly humrous. Sorry for the false advertisment for those of you who were prepared to giggle. Lol.

I have checked out other posters profiles and many are very young and only a few come anywhere near my own age.
I am 56 by the way and soon to be 57.
Are forums and posting on here considered more for the young or does it just end up that way?
Very curious about this and just on a side note and judging from all the past posts I have read: bet anyone who answers this is a young person.
I'm also 56, and will be 57 in a month. True, I feel like I walked into the wrong room (embarrassing!) LOL Well, I've noticed on a few other sites that younger men seem to be more open to meeting plus size women - at least - they will admit it if they are. Could be a sign of changing times. |

`Hi! Just wait until you get the real young guys who want a big older woman.
I have had so many hits from guys who are younger than my youngest kid....I always feel kind of odd about that and in fact have a forum post concerning it as well.

`yep for sure vikingwolfie alot of folks seem to want to focus on how it's said rather then what is said.Imo I think that is a total waste of time and it does nothing for the person pointing out the mistakes in grammer.I have had a few that attacked my grammer and punctuation because they could do nothing else to bring me down to their level but I am a christian soldier so I press on.Btw vikingwolfie I hope you have a wonderful 40th birthday.Guess who else was dylexic and if you guessed albert einstein you would be correct. He started to speak after the age of two.Thomas edison was also dylexic but apparently it didn't slow him down and I don't think you are letting it slow you down.ok two more names and I'm done.Cher and Da Vinci are also dylexic.gbu and ty

I cannot stop laughing! You're a hoot, Cookin! Love it! As far as the age gap, I think there is a certain flair with people in my age group (20's) and the internet. Already, we practice speed dating, text dating, cyber relationships etc. Technology is the easiest way for us to meet people. I myself work 55+ hours a week and don't have much time to socialize. Also, being a BBW and having that desire to meet other people my size or that appreciate my size is hard enough in the "real world". Couple that with the ease of the internet and voila! You have a bunch of goofy 20 somethings in your midst. Nonetheless, we're all here to meet each other and I for one welcome the varied age dynamic.
