`Definitely depends on the stage of the relationship, too much can be scary. Obviously you wouldn't want to give too much away too quickly but, personally I like a guy that can be open with me and feel comfortable telling me anything! Trust takes a long time to be earned but can be broken so quickly..
Hope that helps!

Honesty is a good thing. Being too truthful might scare away someone if the relationship's too new. But being truthful about what you're looking for, some things about your past, stuff like that...I think that's completely fine.

`I have to ask why is the title saying how important is honesty when your question seems to be how open about my life should I be when first meeting someone....Honesty is always always important but don't confuse it with an opinion. For example she asks you how does she look in a pair of slacks. To you she may not look good in them but to others including herself she looks good in them,so do u tell her no she doesn't look good in them which is clearly your opinion or do you say you look fine sweatheart and therefore give her positive feedback and keep yourself from ruining a perfectly good evening? You know that the only reason she even asked was so you could validate her choice and you validate her as a person with her own likes and dislikes. You see the little things do matter.........Now how open you should be with a potential friend? How can I say with any certainty being I know nothing of you or them. Some folks don't mind listening to others and know that sometimes folks ramble on when their nervous and that eventually they will calm down enough to let you see how they really are.Just remember if they never ask you about you then they don't care about you.....good luck and may gbu
