was getting better due to the fact that there were more people working? So then can someone explain this latest release? A bleak employment report sent government bond prices higher Friday. The Labor Department said Friday that just 54,000 people were added to payrolls in May, fewer than expected. With more people stepping into the workforce, the unemployment rate rose to 9.1 percent, up from 9 percent in April, not enough jobs for the people needing work.Traders drove into Treasurys, a refuge for investors when the economy starts to sag. The price of the 10-year Treasury rose 37.5 cents. The higher price lowered the yield to 2.99 percent from 3.03 percent late Thursday. When bond prices rise, yields fall.In other trading, the price of the 30-year Treasury rose 12.5 cents, while its yield rose to 4.22 percent from 4.25 percent late Thursday. The yield on the two-year note dropped to 0.43 percent from 0.46 percent.
In the market for short-term Treasury bills, the three-month T-bill paid a 0.03 percent yield. Its discount was 0.04 percent.I could have sworn that the white house was proclaiming victory against the failing workforce and the staggering unemployment numbers.I also could have sworn that they claimed we were heading out of a recession. So is this just more hype on their part or are we just not seeing what they are wanting us to see?Either way it looks and smells like deception to me.Any thoughts on this?

` I don't believe anything that comes out of the District of Corruption. So many jobs have been shipped off to China and they are not coming back. Also, a lot of people are only working part-time like me, and part-timers and other underemployed folks are also included to pad the employment statistics to make it look like we are in a recovery when we really are not (where are all those "stimulus" jobs??). Here in Nevada we have the highest unemployment rate in the nation since this is a one-note state almost totally dependent on tourism and gaming. Being that gambling is legal in about 45 other states, there is no need for people to come here. I will probably end up moving away from here before long since the outlook here is so bleak and will not improve anytime soon.

`I am sorry to hear of your slump but it is as you said inthat it is affecting everyone everywhere. It makes one sick to hear and even sicker to live in it.I hope and pray that you find relief soon and if you do move,as I am doing, then I pray it is a place more profitable then the place you're leaving from.gbu

`Thanks for the kind words, southernfinery. This whole situation we're in seems to be a deliberate attempt to turn the USA into a third-world country filled with strife and turmoil and so demoralize us we simply cave in and accept being slaves, beggars and peons in our own land. So we must do our best to stay on a positive mental plane and not drive ourselves nutty focused on these problems all the time and live our lives as happily as we can until things improve.
