I'll contact someone that interests me first if: I fit into some of their preferences, and lives close. Other than that, if they live across the country but interests me, whats the point? Now if they contact first I will respond though.

Ugh, it's the whole "Fear of Rejection" that seeps through a lot of people. We've got only one life to live, we better start making the best of it, whether it's a bunch of fails or wins. CRAP!! THAT should have been my New Years Resolution :D

To best answer the original question, I'd have to saw yes I send a message to a person of Interest. Now that being said however; on this site there is an easier method 'Smooches". I think there fun send one to a person if they reply, you have a chance to chat. If during the chat you loose interest or find out that person is a robot program setting here to Mine out all the key strokes you make, then you just move on. I have used said method, I've had one reply thus far. I'm not really in the mood for a dating scene, but chatting I'm up for. And don't judge me by my name, If you don't like my looks move on. I don't want a friend whose into looks, cause I don't have those. I left them in my other pants at the cleans, or whatever expression gets your goat.

I know of many examples where a family was made or a great love was found and strangely enough, looks had nothing to do with any of it. Beauty queen looks passed me by on the day of my birth but even so, I found the love of my life and had him for 34 years.
On a side note, I never thought about robot programs to mine key strokes. Interesting.

If someone interests me I'll definitely message them first, although there are times where it can take me a while to get to writing that first message. I'd also like to add that if a woman sees my profile and is interested, she should definitely feel free to send the first message too. I don't view it as the role of the guy whatsoever to always send the first message.

I've been on two popular free sites since January and I have had maybe as many women contact me first is I have contacted first. If a see someone close enough with similar interests I will send a message, making a comment about the common interest. I get lots of views, but few contacts because most are just too far away. I'm also picky about finding a non-smoker without kids close to my age that likes walking.

I browse profiles, write messages, and wait to get messages too. Usually if I'm interested, I'll take a chance and message the person. You never know unless you try, right? I haven't gotten many messages of substance, or met anyone off of here "yet." I'm starting to feel like there's not much hope for this site / : Kind of a bummer!

`I'm not on here looking for a relationship. I'm here mainly because of the high level of acceptance and encouragement of a BBW. This site is a blessing to boost my confidence even more than I had before. I stumbled apon it on accident:)

But I do get curious and see what's out there, not making contact with anyone, just browsing. It seems like the one's from my area are looking for a one-time deal anyways, which is what I've been confronted with in the real world.

But there are cool people I like as friends, although I don't want to send them the wrong message or "waste their time" with friendship when they're trying to look for their soul mate. So I stick with the boards instead of personally talking. I finally got one person to leave me a comment, so that's nice:)

I would try to contact more people if I didn't think I was bothering them, so I'm kind of hanging back, and if anyone wants to talk, I'll be thrilled. But, I'm thrilled enough to just reply on the boards.

I mostly look through profiles, view the people who have viewed me...i don't tend to show interest first, but do respond to people who contact me, whether it be good or bad, i agree that its rude to not respond...so many great profiles on this site and loads of nice people, just wish i didn't live in such an isolated place lol...hope people find what they are looking for
