Back at it, again!

My bestie and I had a sit-down last night and discussed our complete and total wagon-falling.
We're both pretty sure we've put on weight again.

Official weigh in start point will be at the end of June. However, we're going to start up exercising again...started today, actually..well, yesterday, i guess.

Gotta tell you, although I was sweating buckets, and I mean buckets. It was naaasty! lol. It felt great!
All the stretching and moving around really got my bones and muscles feeling sore, but aligned and good.

I wonder if there are any big woman's sports teams around? I think that would be super fun and healthy. None of us would have to feel awkward, either. I'll have to take a look into it.

How about everyone else? How are your plans going? Any luck, or not so much?

Hope you guys are doing great, in any case!

sheevaa wrote: `I was so surprised to see people other than me and cookin' in this thread, lol. Not going to stop talking about it Charlie, because it's something I'm interested in. However, I won't ever tell anyone else that they should too.
I'm discussing it here because I feel very comfortable here. Like cookin', I like having the cheerleader section, too!

And that's the whole reason I joined this site. I'm on a quest to shed pounds as well and there's nothing wrong with accepting yourself and wanted to get healthier and/or make a change. It's wrong to just "assume" that people diet and lose weight because they feel unhappy in their skin, just as, what Charlie pointed out, it is wrong to "assume" BBWs and BHMs are looking to lose weight, which isn't what the site is condoning anyways.

Dieting is a topic as general as sports for a lot of people, even in a bigger person's world whether they are happy with their weight or not. And if there is a "Dieting" board, why would be so rude as to tell someone to take it to "Diet passions"?? I get that Charlie may feel dieting is a sensitive subject for big beautiful people such as most of us on this site, but at the same time, it's a moderators job to tell us "where to take our posts".

`As I said before, I am trying to lose weight myself, and I have something to add to what I said in my previous post about saying "that's the whole reason I joined".

Now I didn't join this site because I wanted to lose weight, however I joined because it was a community of people like me who had very positive attitudes and I absolutely love it!!

I didn't join for dates or anything, I just wanted to join an online community full of great people who understand me and I found it, even on a dating site, lol. I'm all for making new freinds though and most of everyone seems so nice and friendly.

I find that surrounding myself full of people who understand the life of being large and who embrace it, make the challenge of losing weight so much easier, and doing it together could possibley make us invincible!! I would be glad to join this thread, share my progress as well as read other's progress, and be everyone's cheerleader!!

`Hey, welcome to the newer people, here:) Sorry I haven't been around much *blushes* Too busy with stupid facebook games, lol.

So, it's been nearly a year (I think, anyway, I didn't look:P) since I started this thread and I have accomplished...well...actually not much, sadly.
The idea and hope is still with me though. I just have to get into a good routine. That's the key of it, how I was keeping up with it before. I think what I'll do is read over some of my earlier posts, and see what I was doing then, since i've somewhat lost it, these days.

Keep the stories and encouragement coming, you guys! I love to hear it. One of these days I'm going to get it right, then there'll be no stopping me! :-D

Well, I'm still on the go!! Except the last few days ago, I got this sudden burst of energy one night and I started dancing around, throwing some squats in the mix and it felt really good when I was done. I worked up a sweat and my tummy and legs were tired so I thought I did good. But the next morning I had a hard time getting started on walking and it hurt rlly bad. So I figured that since it hurt so bad, that I shouldn't jog on my treadmill and also thought it would be nice to enjoy some sun at the same time, so I did a two - mile walk, which isn't anything for me because I have strong legs and walk all the time anyways. Well, next morning, I couldn't walk at all. I went to work and ppl teased me all day on Tues. and after that I focused on resting and stretching. Now it's Friday and I got back on the treadmill for thirty mins and felt a little tightness, but i'm working on getting back into it. I did quite a few sit ups as well. Hopefully I lose more soon. I'm seeing a difference in some shirts, my belt, and my pants/shorts. I also took a before pic of me four days into my workout and now it's been a little over a month. And I didn't change anything too drastic to my diet, a few healthier alts here and there, but I didn't "punish" myself for messing up. Like, if I buckled and enjoyed a soda, I've learned not to get mad at myself. I can enjoy one from time to time, and I'm working out and I've done very well, so it's not worth the mental pain over a silly soda. I used to cry for an hour if I had a slice of cake during my past attempts at weight loss and convinced myself I ruined all my hard work, which wasn't true. I believe in losing weight while still enjoying good foods now and then, rather than cut out pleasureable snacks all together which will drive you plum batty.

So if you have a mess up here and there and eat something extra packed with calories, or you blow off your work out for a day; it's nothing to completely quit over. You just know that tomorrow is another day, with good intentions of doing better, and that mind set has gotten me a long way in just a month.

`Wow!! Hi, I'm new here and found this forum to be very interesting. Sheevaa, I'm curious to know where you are now? I have been fighting the good fight of losing weight myself. Last year I went to the doctor and weighed in at 277 lbs. I was so in shock and I didn't even realize I had gained so much weight. As of today, I am 236..I tried dieting but it didn't work. I even had surgery 3 yrs before and that did not work either. Why? The program after the surgery consisted of dieting.. I could never stick to a diet. lol Crazy me..Anyways, over the last year I have slowly gotten on track without dieting and am finally coming back down. Yaaayyy me!!

`Wow, it's been forever since I've been here. Lots of ups and downs. Yeah, I'm a terrible role-model. lol. Still haven't stuck with it. I have the passion to get it done, it's the motivation to stick with it everyday that gets me.

I did have a revelation today though. I'm in a course to get into the veterinary field. One of our restraint assignments was rolling a dog (stuffy at this point:P) on our knees and then just use your legs to get up. I had a really hard time with the balance. I think I'm too top-heavy, lol. Just for that alone, I know I gotta do the most hated exercise....SQUATS!!

I'm not giving up on myself though. I knew this was never going to be easy, especially when you have committment issues, haha.

Considering my student diet of bread, noodles and tuna at the moment. I think once I'm done my practicum and can afford healthy food again (never longed so much for veggies in my life!) I'll be looking to start up again.

Still love hearing any of your stories, success, troubles, it's all helpful:)

`Well I love that there's a dieting topic here! i'm glad that there are some ladies willing to share their ups and downs with it as well. So here I go with sharing mine...
Three years ago i lost 60lbs and kept it off for that whole three years. In July of this year it all packed back on in a matter of 5 weeks! Yes people five weeks! The funny thing was i didn't change anything to pack on that weight. Finally fed up and done crying i went to the doc and found out i have a thyroid problem. Well i was glad i found the answer to that! Long story short i was put on meds and the doc told my it would take about 2-3 months for my body to get back in order. Let me tell you was i bummed that none of the weight i gained came off with the meds.
Well in October i decided i would take matters in my own hands. I've been on a 1200 calorie diet and doing my lovely Walk Away the Pounds workout DVDs and would love to report i went from 385 to now 320lbs. I feel great! Though i am a bit bummed that at ten pounds heaver i was wearing a size 24, but i still haven't managed to get back in them yet :(

`Hi lost soul ( I'm sure you aren't a lost soul) Congrats on the weight loss having a thyroid condition. I myself have a thyroid condition, and I'm old on top of it. lol It does seem extra hard to lose weight when you have a thyroid condition, but the weight will come off if you work at it. The only way I have found I can lose weight is working out at the gym 2 hours a day, 4-6 days a week. I have been on every diet under the sun, and working out faithfully is the only thing that personally helps me. I had a hip replacement surgery on Oct 3rd because of a birth defect that lead to some serious bone deteriation, which caused a lot of pain. Since the surgery I haven't been able to work out, so I have gained some weight back, but as soon as the Dr gives me the ok, I'm back to working out again. Exercise really improves the quality of my life, and I'm not just talking for vanity reasons. What helps me too is drinking a lot of ice water and taking vitamins daily. Everyone needs different vitamins at different ages and stages of life, my advice would to google for your age what kind of vitamins you need to be taking . It really does help. I wish we all lived closer so we could workout or walk together. It sounds like you are doing very well, you will get there girl, and you look beautiful the way you are.

`It does sound incredibly hard and like you gals are doing great. I don't even have a thyroid issue holding me back at all!
You know something I actually have been longing to do ever since I saw it. Burlesque dancing! I'm not talking about getting up on stage or anything, but man that looks like a LOT of fun, and a good way to get healthier, to boot.
Plus, seeing a lot of bigger ladies get up on stage and looking smokin' while dancing just makes it seem all the more fun.

Have any of you tried this? Or belly-dancing or anything fun like that at all?
