I use to be very shy in the beginning when I first started but once I started noticing more and more I was self sabotaging my own chances. To afraid of rejection letting possible chances slip away. After I realizes that I stop being shy. I mean heck, I thought to myself which is more painful letting the person who u can really click with slip away because ur afraid of rejection or just being rejected? To me id rather be rejected then lose any more chances and being rejected really isnt that bad. Id rather not waste my time on the wrong one or something that isnt gonna work early then find out later on down the line anyway. Ya know I mean shyt time dont wait for no one so I cant expect ppl to wait for me because im shy. So I got ride of that feeling agian this is my own experience with getting past it.

`I think I am shy at first cause I don't have confidence and I am afraid of rejection. Life will treat you the way you treat it. Confidence is what will remove ones shyness. I learned that from a new friend i met. So now i might be scared a little to meet new person, but i have the confidence to be myself and if that's not good enough then screw them

`I have been known to be shy and reserved when meeting new people as well, and sometimes I just need a little push to get myself talking and to be social. I usually try to talk to someone near me and just ask them random things about themselves or make a comment about what's going on around us. If I'm at a party for instance, I'll ask someone how they know the host or if they're originally from the area, or what have you. Usually small chit chat seems to help not only to start a conversation with someone, but also gives me time to loosen up about being shy and gets me talking a little more.
