Probably this is a beat to death topic but does anyone actually read profiles and what people are looking for? I know that a picture is worth a thousand words and its what people base their first opinions on but does anyone take time to read profiles...I think that more people should also fill out what they are looking for, its easier to know then if its appropriate to send an email or a message...men and women aren't mind readers or at least I don't think they are LOL...just wondering that's all

`I read every essay on all sites I use and only message those that seem to fit me. The problem on here is no one within 100 miles of me has even logged on within the past 3 months so it does little good. It just needs to be promoted more.

`I hear that lol I doubt if there is anyone within 500 miles of me...but it is still nice to drop in see who's about and see what everyone has to say...sometimes distance doesn't have to be an obstacle...but I do think some people need to put more info in, and emails aren't a bad thing either

`I totally agree..You take the time to put as much information on your profile only to have people you are not looking for responding to your ad.. I guess they figure you may change your requirements. hope you both find what and who your looking for. we all know its not fun being alone. karen

`A picture might catch my eye, but I 100% read every single thing on a profile. It gives you more of an idea of who the person is. I practice what I preach when I say looks aren't that important.
And my results are the same..everyone close to me hasn't been on in forever! Either that or I've already talked to them and it either wasn't going to be a right match, or I'm still talking to them but more as "friends"

`I am the same, a picture will catch your eye but some profiles are worth reading...my problem has usually come from reading more info on them...either I don't fit what they want or they are into things that I am so not into...but you don't know if you don't see it or read it...which is why I don't respond to a lot of the profiles I view, if they are not what I am looking for in a friend or anything else...also most of who have view me are either way too young or when I look at their profiles not even in the same continent LOL...let the search continue LOL

`I read the profiles, but I don't completely cast someone off because of it. These profiles are so utterly generic. There is so much to a person that you can't get out of 10 sentences here and there. Granted not everyone is for everyones, but what's the harm in a couple emails to see if people are good people or not...

`i prefer reading what people wrote on theirs rather than the multiple choice questions. tbh i find all the information too overwhelming. the worse part the multiple choice aren't even really accurate. LOL. i just get confused

`I read a lot of them. I do tend to pick profiles that have pictures though. Looks aren't too important but I do like to get a general sense of the person I'm reading about.

`Yeah, I've ended up clicking on profiles with pictures I don't typically wouldn't look at just because the profile was unique.

`reviving a thread here, but still...
I'm here for friendships and most guys won't look at what I wrote, they just come trolling at me without even bothering, otherwise they's see "Friendship" clearly spelled out :/ It get pretty annoying and I tend to block ppl who do that. And then they realize I'm not going to go along with the trolling/hitting on and spout out a lot of none-sense and babble... and not just in the chat either. I've gotten msgs too.
I do, for one, read profiles.

`I'm a profile reader. Profiles without personality won't be a conversation-starter for me.

`I wonder the same thing! I do read the profiles but some stick out more then others.
I have yet to figure out this site, I think it's a little confusing. Is anyone else confused? Any pointers on how to navigate the site?
