I just read the posts in the broken heart section. Do you think someone should be dating when they still have a broken heart or are not over their last relationship? Is it fair to anyone they should meet? Do you think that being with someone else can heal a broken heart?

Well - I wouldn't. I couldn't. When I am nursing a bruised or broken heart - it makes me feel ill to go out with someone else. However long it takes me to heal - I need to do that healing by myself.

Of course not everyone is just like me. I can't fathom a scenario which would be healthy though - but then there are just some things that no matter how I try, I can't get my head around. Like for instance - how do they get those lil "M's" on the M&M's? It's a mystery!!!

If I had much invested in the realationship and we were truely connected/in love... and my heart was broken...then no...I couldn't possibly.

However... if it were only my ego(?) that was damaged...then yes ,perhaps a date would be just what the doctor ordered...even better if the date was a doctor...LOL

I also find that the older I get my heart doesn't break as easily as it once did...

For me there are levels of moving on...

No, I can't just go out a day or a week after breaking up with someone, but I have to force myself to take that first step and put myself out there for the opportunities to begin.

After a certain amount of time I can find myself allowing myself to think about actually meeting someone or going on a date. Then I soon realize that I'm still alive and okay and even though the heartbreak is still there it isn't as bad as it was at first.

I broke up from being exclusive with someone in July... It took me until last week to actually go out one on one and talk with another guy to start the getting to know you process. However that doesn't mean that I've not spoken with anyone in the meantime... it is important for me to go through all the levels otherwise I feel like I didn't finish one process or give the love I felt the respect it deserved when the relationship ended.

At no point in time have I ever been unclear about my emotions to someone new and I completely understand if they back away because it is hard to get to know someone who isn't really emotionally available, but I never take it personally.

Time is a great healer even though it took me 2 years to recover from a broken heart once and I learnt in that time there was no point dating because my heart was never in the relationship.
Heal your self first!

If my heart is truly broken, not just that I'm annoyed it didn't work out, then all I'm likely to attracted are men who are into fixing up a woman with a broken heart, after I heal he's not going to be too interested.

Dating with a broken heart is asking to make matters even worse for a person in the long run, Because You are not sure if you are serious or just needing the other person around to keep your mind off of what is going on in your heart. We as human being don't realize how powerful the heart can be,especially when in a relationship. Your heart sets the tenpo of your love, and it will always tell you when something is not right, but we tend not to listen to it. And I feel this is where we will make the mistake of thinking "I'm Ok". and that is just a temperary fix. Keep in mind that if you break an Arm, Leg, Foot, or something, You have to give it time to heal, if it going to heal. and the same holds true for the heart. It is just as important as the rest of you. Don't sell yourself short, take care of yourself.you will love you much better in the long run

What a bunch of BS. I've been divorced/single for over 20 years now. The vast majority of folks are out looking before the ink has dried on the divorce papers. And a lot of times before its dried. The 1st thing I've noticed are the gals badmouthing the men in their lives. To anyone that will listen to their pain. Of course you never here about THEIR part in things. Gotta get their allies onboard as soon as possible. I guess if you badmouth your ex long enough that makes you innocent huh?? LOL What a joke. Naw I stay away from ANY women thats just out of a relationship.
Funny I never see the men carrying on this way.

After the end of my 1st marriage, it took me 4 years before I would date.
I had a life, it just didn't include intimate time with anyone.
After my second marriage failed, I decided I wasn't good at relationships,so stayed on my own 12 years. I raised my kids and got on with life.
Now I feel it might be time to venture into the dating thing again.

i think a person should give themselves time to heal before jumping into another relationship.unless they're not one of those who jduges every lil thing their new partner do or say.comparing them to their old mate. no one wants to hear crap like..."you act just like my ex",(especially if it's negetive)!you anger will roll over to the next person, and some won't have it...i know i wouldn't...in other words..i would understand your pain...but please don't bring it to me!...i don't know if anyone can fix someones broken heart.you'll have to allow you heart to heal, then move when you are ready to start over ...leaving the past behind!...peace!

`I think you should try to, maybe your heart isnt broken anymore after you date or meeting with a new friend...
But you should also be honest and tell your date that you have a broken heart.
Just look out so you dont get used now when you are week and telling your new friend that you have a broken heart.
