I was searching tonight and noticed that most men do not fill out the part of their profile that says what they are looking for in a woman.
It is hard to tell if the guy IS the "large" part of largepassions or if he is LOOKING for a large person.
Come on guys, give us ladies some info, please?

`yeah, the no photo thing, well I have a theory about that. i have been getting many many smooches, mini messages and short e-mails and 99% have no photo but also only want to communicate over my personal e-mail, or theirs. that to me is a red flag. Ya never know what you end up with then....LOL

`I see that a lot on just about every site I tried out. Not only no photos, but a lot with no essays and half the multiple choice questions blank. Makes me think a lot are scammers or people just getting on the site to search for others. On two sites I use, when I try to message a woman with little info and no photo, my msg always goes unread until it expires from the mailbox. At least I am thorough with my profile on all sites and have 4 or 5 pics. :)

`Yeah I have noticed that too. It just kind of bums me out because I do my little search and 3 people might have a picture out of the couple hundred in the list. And then maybe 5 or 6 on the list have some sort of meat to their profiles.

good for you 1957.
I understand about the no photo when a person does't have a camera. that sucks.
But the blank profile bugs me the most. I feel that if the person couldn't be bothered to fill it out, they probably are not seriously looking for a partner either.

`yeah, at times i've received 'winks' or 'nicebreakers' or what-have-you on other sites from men who have nothing in their profile, and i think, "ok, so you're supposedly interested in me, but how could i possibly respond? what's there for me to be interested in?" i don't get it.
and anyway, if you're genuinely here to attract somebody, why *wouldn't* you put *something* in your profile?
of course, i have a horrible obsession with reading profiles, so i think i'm just pouting because i'm bored and i've read everything already. ha!

`I understand completely. Right not I don't have a photo or anything, because im kind of scared too. Not just the fact that I'm on a "dating site". All I want is friendship with people like me and I just discovered this site yesterday and got up the guts to make a profile this afternoon and I'm afraid someone's going to want more than a friendship and try to hunt me down, like a psycho or something. Yeah, I spook myself a lot. I'll probably post a pic if I get comfortable, but the last thing I need while I'm adjusting to a site is to have people begging for dates and whatnot - not meaning that in a concieded way at all - just saying I need babysteps. I don't need too much too soon, until I can atleast figure out my blocking features lol.

`I have been a member for nearly 2 years and I insist on is communication on this sites e-mail. If you allow IM with your personal e-mail or IM identity, then you can get into trouble end up talking to weirdos when you would rather not.
Just stick with the site e-mail.
they even weed out the spammers. If you ever get a notice that you have an e-mail but there isn't any, thats why, it was tagged as spam and erased.
This site is pretty darn good about that.
Your profile does not need to be so personalized that some psycho could find you.
There is a lot of leeway there. The kind of music you like or what movies you like are pretty general.
Spend lots of time on the site looking at others profiles to see how they are written. You will see some that you know darn well you wouldn't want yours to sound like and there are others that are clever and innovative.
Good luck and welcome and come back to the forum often. We are a nice bunch of folks here.

i was scared when i first started doing dating sites, too. but the reality is, the only information they get is what you give them. this site doesn't give out your personal info, and doesn't allow you any way to do that if you're not a paying member. also, you have every right and opportunity to deny, block, or even ignore whatever/whomever makes you feel uncomfortable. even if you do give a personal email address that's not through this site, there are ways to make that pretty obscure, too. you can make several yahoo and gmail email accounts without using your personal info. Use them only for corresponding with people from dating sites, and then you don't have anything messing up your regular everyday account. bottom line, no one online can force you to do anything.
anyway, do take your time and get comfortable. but you'll figure out how to be and feel in control in due time.

Another thing I would like to add is for you xbubblyx to go over all the different topics and read some of the replies on the forum too. Of course not all at once. There are quite a few topics and participants.
it will give you a little bit of an idea of how things go and the mood of the the place as well

heh. oh yeah. ahem. kinda get my sites mixed up. either way, giving out personal information is your own choice. it doesn't happen without your knowledge or approval.
