Is the BBW movement s----l or acceptance?

I have never had self esteem issues, rejection issues yes but self esteem issues no. Most of the time when I am approached by a man 9 times out of 10 they come with a s----l advance. What the hell? Do men think that just because I am a full, thick, beautiful woman that I have no self esteem and that because I am the size I am it is acceptable to view me as such? I realize that sometimes men are just being pigs (not all) and it is not subject to my size every time but come on. I am not desperate for attention! So after that little rant . . . It seems to me that alot of BBW sites are for fet--- seeking patrons. Personally I don't want to be tossed in the category of boot licking and tree humping. So much S-- encircles the phrase "Big Beautiful Woman". I don't like it! I want to be taken seriously. Its hard enough as a strong woman to be taken seriously let alone a big beautiful one. Don't get me wrong there is a time and a place for "you know", but that should not define who I am that is just stuff I can do. So what do you think? Is BBW a cover for freakiness or a pure movement of fat acceptance?

People are basically good. I you view life in such a way that when you see someone and smile and say good morning! even though it really isn't a good morning, but you still say it and mean it, and you are the kind of person that is like that, the real people will see you for who you are, and for what kinf of person you are. Not all men like big women, Not all big women like big men. What's important is what's in your heart. The most important opinion of yourself you can get is your own. Nothing else matters.

Sure, I completely agree and thank you for that. What I mean is, in society, fat is not acceptable so, for sheer conversation purposes, do you think that in society, is fat finaly beginning to become acceptable?

`I wish society would accept bigger sized people as normal. I've lived in a small NC town for four years and it has been nothing but horrible for me and all bigger people, I used to have a small support group in my school for the bigger sized women who were getting teased and were uncomfortable with the s----l advances from guys, and who had a low self esteem, but I got shut down. I've seen bigger girls and women get passed up for opportunities and even the guys turned from them and the ones that didnt were abusive and controlling, I can only hope.

`I think it is a blend of the search for acceptance and wish to be seen as se---lly desirable no matter what your size! People are people and size should never be considered more important than the way you behave or perform your job. It always amazes me the amount of tolerance skinny women are given when they behave poorly or fail in their job. To me, other considerations come WAY before appearance.

`I agree in thinking that it is a blend of both. Plus total acceptance has to have that s----l portion. You cannot be accepted completely and still stiffed on the attractiveness scale :)
