As BBW's it's sometimes harder to find clothes and shoes that fit and look nice. What are your favorite places to shop for clothes and shoes? I'd love to hear especially about shoes since I haven't found many options for nice wide width shoes.

I love the internet and have finally been able to find shoes thanks to shopping on-line. I have tiny, fat feet ~ lol ~ and Achilles tendonitis. I order all of my shoes through Footsmart on-line and love all the shoes I've gotten. I usually get Softspots (the brand). They're more expensive but I can find the 6-1/2 WW that I need.

I love shopping online!!!You can almost shop the world and it's delivered right to your door...of course you have to know your measurements and I usually check for fabric content of things I enjoy wearing ...E-bay...I do get lots of things from there...sometimes finding designer things(new) at a fraction of the retail.I'm kind of hard to fit sometimes cause I'm short and wear two sizes larger on top ...but online sure beats trudging the mall ...only to find that most clothing stores buyers must think that if you're plus sized you must wear only drab and boring clothing....poo!!!!!

Princess,

I love 'sensible' shoes like Birkenstock, Naot, Mephisto and a few others and when I want to wear 'regular' shoes, I use Birkenstock orthotic inserts. I have plantars faciitis and find myself in excruciating pain on occasion, but since wearing sensible shoes (my mom would be so proud) some of that pain has been alleviated and I believe it's helped my lower back as well.

Another thing I've found regarding BBW clothing is the lack of proportion. I'm very short ~ not quite 5' but I wear large sizes. Unfortunately, BBW clothing manufacturers assume if you wear a 4X then you're about 10' tall. I have to hem everything ~ I hate that. I know there are some petite BBW size manufacturers now but I've found they may make things shorter but then they tend to be smaller. I don't get it. I should learn to sew and make my own clothes.

Shoes are a big problem for me, I have duck feet but I do have an arch, my toes take up a very wide area but my heels are a normal width, I've never found shoes that fit both my toes and my heels, and I won't wear shoes that crush my toes! So I either buy shoes with no backs (cold as crap in the winter) or I have the heel rubbing up and down causing pain. I use band aids back there but that doesn't always help, plus my shoes tend to fall off as I walk. I've tried those heel inserts and they just come off while I'm trying to put the shoes on or they roll up while I'm walking. I order shoes from Shoemall or the fat catalogs. Shoemall is great!

Shannon, try the Dr. Scholl's Gel Inserts. They are more rigid and don't roll up like the moleskin ones. Plus you'll be gellin'!!

I hate to shop, partly because it's so frustrating at my size and with Wide feet. So when I DO shop it better be worth my while. LOL!! I love online, but will not order things that should be tried on first--jeans, structured pants, jackets.

IRL:
Lane Bryant and Avenue are my favorites for clothes; Avenue carries Wide shoes, too.
Nordstrom
Naturalizer and Easy Spirit for shoes
Payless for shoes
Dress Barn for shoes and some stores carry plus size

ONLINE:
Lane Bryant, Avenue, Nordstrom, Kiyonna, Fashion Bug, Torrid.
For shoes, Amazon, Zappos, Avenue. you can search by size which is awesome.

BRAS I have to order online since stores don't carry my size. Lane Bryant carries larger sizes online, but not in the store.

I don't know if this store is national or just local. Cato's is my favorite place to shop for my blouses. They have stylish clothes and bright colors. I was like a kid in a candy store the first time I walked in there. I was so used to wearing dark colors but they actually have bright pinks, greens, yellows, oranges and purples. I know that most people say that bbw should wear darker colors because it is slimming but I love bright colors. It brightens my mood when I am wearing my favorite shirt- a bright pink shimmering blouse!

Pants on the other hand, I need help with! Makers of pants must think that every woman who is my height and weight must have bigger thighs. Every pair of pants that I can find anywhere are so baggy in the thighs but fit everywhere else. It is so frustrating

I love Cato's. There is one in the mall I work at. I finally found a store that sells sexy clothes. I get compliments on my tops all the time. I have to agree that they make their pants too long.

Posted:     Post subject: I hate clothing manufacturers

I cant buy clothing anywhere and ive given up trying, its a genuine nightmare that drives me crazy. I refuse to wear tents and the day I wear a poncho is the day pigs start flying. Anyway, I like fashionable clothing that reflects the fact im 28 not 88 so ive started having all my stuff made to measure. Its costs a fortune but unfortunately its the only way im not leaving the house naked so it has to be done.

I love shoes, im a real girlie girl, love high heels. I buy all mine from Evans in the U.K. They do wide fitting and sexy heels, my heroes. Now if only they could start making clothes that fit me id be one happy fat lady.
